After many years breeding American cocker Spaniels, I started looking for a special breed. Little did I know when I volunteered to steward at a local dog show, that they would walk into the ring that afternoon. In walked 4 Skye Terriers and my heart was lost. Funny, playful, elegant, aloof, and beautiful. I vowed to one day own one and mentioned my wish to a friend. “Too bad you aren’t ready for one now” she said. “I have a lovely boy at home”.

3 months later Sam came to live with me. He was destined to be a couch potato, but instead became my first true special. He hated my male cocker spaniels, but not not much else. In many ways, he changed many peoples opinions of the skye terrier breed.

Little did I know how much my "dog" life would change that day I stewarded. After 9 years of raising and showing American cocker spaniels, I had fallen in love. If anyone had said that I would end with a terrier, I would have told them they were crazy.

Well, 17 years later, I am still sharing my home with a number of skyes and loving it.

Since then I have lived with and loved some very special Skye terriers.  Check out our Kidds page for more information.
